How rough the sea will be, and how far the boundary is.
Seven-day sea state for 14 fishing harbours in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and West Bengal, the India–Sri Lanka, India–Maldives and India–Bangladesh boundaries drawn from their legal texts, and a distance checker that runs on the phone. For fisheries departments, coastal police, fishing cooperatives and Coast Guard liaison, with a free public page for fishers.
Indian fishing boats cross international maritime boundaries every year, and their crews are apprehended. The Ministry of External Affairs told Parliament that Sri Lanka apprehended 560 Indian fishermen in 2024 and 360 in 2025; Pakistan 27 and 7; Bangladesh 95 and 71. On 1 January 2026 Pakistan acknowledged holding 199 Indian fishermen. Boats are seized and families lose their income for months.
Most of these lines are not hard to find on paper: the India–Sri Lanka line has been fixed since 1974 and 1976, the India–Bangladesh line since the 2014 award. What is missing is a plain answer at sea or before sailing: how far am I from the line, which side am I on, and is the sea safe for a small boat today. India and Pakistan have no agreed sea boundary at all near Sir Creek.
- Gives each harbour a level for every hour of the next seven days (normal, watch, warning, danger) from wave height, wind and gusts, using IMD's sea-condition terms, with long-period swell flagged.
- Draws the India–Sri Lanka, India–Maldives and India–Bangladesh boundaries from the positions written in the agreements and the 2014 award, each with its citation, and checks them against published segment lengths.
- Shows India–Pakistan near Sir Creek as a caution zone, never as a line, because no line has been agreed.
- Tells a user how far a position is from the nearest boundary, in nautical miles and kilometres, with bearing and side. The sum is done on the device: the position is never sent or stored, and the map is drawn without fetching map tiles.
- Counts fishermen apprehended by each neighbour per year from Ministry of External Affairs answers, with a link to every answer. Counts only, no names.
- Publishes the same sea state, checker and Coast Guard numbers on a free public page, with advice in English, Tamil, Gujarati and Bengali.
- Read the textsPositions copied from the 1974 and 1976 agreements, the 1976 India–Maldives agreement and the 2014 award, checked against Sri Lankan and Maldivian law and the US State Department's Limits in the Seas.
- Forecast the seaTwo keyless Open-Meteo requests a run return waves, swell and wind for every harbour's nearest sea cell, seven days ahead, hour by hour.
- Grade itEach hour takes the worst of its wave, wind, gust and swell levels; each IST day the worst of its hours. Thresholds are listed with their sources.
- Check positionsNearest point on the great-circle arcs, side from the arc's plane, distance on WGS-84. Python and JavaScript versions are tested against each other.

Methods, thresholds and every cross-check: methods note.
- State fisheries departments decide when to advise boats to stay in harbour and where to focus boundary awareness work.
- Coastal police and Coast Guard liaison see which harbours face rough seas and how close a reported position is to a line.
- Fishing cooperatives brief crews before a trip, in their own language.
- Fishers check today's sea and their distance to the boundary on a phone, free.
- Positions stay on the device: the checker makes no network request with a position and stores nothing.
- Events and places, never people: detention data is national totals with citations; the pipeline rejects anything that looks like a personal name.
- No line is drawn where none is agreed. Sir Creek is a caution zone with its reasoning stated.
- Every advisory states its source, its time and that it is advisory, and names IMD, INCOIS, the Coast Guard and the fisheries department as the authorities to follow.
- Translations are marked as drafts until reviewed by local fisheries officials.
- The 1974 and 1976 agreements give no geodetic datum; their positions can differ from GPS by tens to hundreds of metres.
- Sea state is model output for a grid cell near the harbour; it misses harbour-mouth breakers, local squalls and thunderstorms.
- Detention counts are what the Ministry has reported, without locations; Pakistan and Bangladesh yearly counts are available only from 2021.
- The forecast is as fresh as the last pipeline run; pages say so when it is more than 30 hours old.
- The free Open-Meteo API is for non-commercial use; a deployment for a government customer needs a subscription or a self-hosted instance.
